The normal cycle of our
hairs growth last for 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 CM
(less than half an inch) per month during this phase. Approximately 90
percent of the hair on our scalp is growing while another 10 percent of
the hair on our scalp is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the
resting hairs fall out and new hairs start to grow in its place.
It is normal to shed some hairs each day as part of this cycle.
However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair
loss. Hair loss of this type can affects men, women and children.
A typical example of major hair loss cause which affects both sexes is
poor diet.
In order to have healthy and strong hairs, your body needs a lot of
vitamins such as vitamins B6, B12, C, and E. If you have a deficiency
in one of these vitamins then you could experience hair loss. Therefore
if you suspect that poor diet is the cause of your hair loss, you
should change your diet by including some fresh fruits and vegetables,
drinking a lot of water and adding more dairy products and poultry.
Another hair loss cause which affects both men and women is
tension/stress. Our bodies can tolerate a certain level of stress, but
anything over this tolerance level will have a detrimental effect such
as hair loss. It is one of the ways in which our body is telling us
that something is wrong.
Stress causes hair loss is medically known as Telogen Effluvium. Once
you are grappled with an unexpected stress or a kind of shock, you are
prone to loose your hair rapidly. This is because in such condition,
your hair's capability of regeneration is nullified and it may take a
year for follicles to resume their tasks of producing hairs.
